C8 Corvette TCM Tuning Now Available

We've spent the better part of six years working on the C8 Corvette platform, from the day the Corvette Stingray first hit the market in 2020 through the arrival of the Z06, the E-Ray, the ZR1, and now the Grand Sport. Every one of those cars has pushed the platform forward, but one limitation has followed all of them: the transmission control module, or TCM.

Three years ago to the day, HP Tuners delivered the first official ECM unlock for the C8. Today, they've taken the next step. Thanks to HP Tuners' new T46 package, full TCM tuning is now available for the C8 Corvette lineup, and it closes the biggest gap that's existed in C8 tuning up to this point.

What Just Changed for C8 Owners

For years, C8 Corvette tuning has meant working almost exclusively through the ECM: fueling, ignition timing, boost control, torque management. The transmission itself was off-limits. That mattered because the C8's dual-clutch transmission has its own separate controller, and no amount of ECM tuning could touch the way it shifted, how hard the clutches squeezed together, or when it decided to call for a gear change.

With the T46 package, HP Tuners has opened that door. As of today, TCM tuning is available for the Corvette Stingray, Corvette E-Ray, Corvette Z06, and Corvette ZR1. We're not able to confirm availability for the Corvette Grand Sport or Grand Sport X or any 2027 model years yet, but the moment we get one of those cars in our shop, we'll validate it and update this page.

This is genuinely one of the bigger developments in C8 Corvette tuning since the platform launched, and it's the kind of thing we've been waiting on for a long time.

What Is a Transmission Control Module, and Why Does It Matter

The transmission control module is a separate computer from the ECM, dedicated entirely to managing how the transmission behaves. On any car with an automatic or dual-clutch transmission, the TCM and ECM are in constant communication, with the ECM handling engine output and the TCM handling everything related to shifting: clutch engagement, shift timing, torque requests during a shift, and more.

We've worked with dual-clutch TCMs on other platforms, including Porsche PDKs and Volkswagen/Audi DSG transmissions, and the C8's TCM operates on similar principles. Until now, though, it's been locked down on this platform, which meant a car's actual power output could outrun what the transmission was allowed to handle.

What TCM Tuning Actually Unlocks

With the T46 package, we now have access to the tables that actually control how the C8's transmission behaves under load. That includes:

• Shift pressure: how hard the transmission squeezes the clutches together during a shift. This is the single biggest fix for clutch slip on modified cars, since we can now tell the TCM to apply more clutch pressure to match the torque the engine is actually producing.
• Torque limits: previously capped how much torque the TCM would allow before cutting the RPMs short or triggering early shifts. Raising that ceiling is what allows the higher shift pressure tables to kick in for cars making real power.
• RPM limits and shift scheduling: letting us control exactly what RPM the transmission calls for a shift at, per gear, and adjust the downshift schedule to match.
• Launch control settings: including engine speed target and clutch engagement rate off the line.
• There's also a set of slip tables tied to low-speed clutch takeoff that we haven't fully explored yet, but they show promise for smoothing out roll-off behavior on aggressive builds.

Real-World Results From Our Shop Cars

We're currently running T46 development across four of our own C8s: a ProCharged E-Ray, a twin-turbo Z06, a heavily modified ZR1, and our shop Z06. Early testing has already shown a clear difference in shift quality between a stock TCM map and a custom one, with logged data showing reduced RPM flare and eliminated clutch slip between gears once shift pressure is properly matched to the car's torque output.

This is still early-stage work, done in close coordination with HP Tuners as they continue refining the package, so some of what we're testing today may change before a wider release. We'll be sharing more of this testing on our YouTube channel as we go.
